Biodegradable & Compostable Materials
Sustainable solutions designed to decompose naturally in controlled composting, soil, or selected natural environments while reducing long-term environmental impact and meet global sustainability targets.

Biodegradable and compostable materials are advanced alternatives to conventional plastics, engineered to decompose into non-toxic components through natural microbial processes. By supporting circular economy initiatives, these materials help reduce landfill waste and lower carbon footprints across industries, while enabling companies to meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations and ESG commitments.
Our comprehensive portfolio includes PLA, PHA, PBAT, PBS, BioPBS, starch-based compounds, and certified compostable bioplastics. These solutions are widely applied in food packaging, disposable tableware, agricultural films, medical packaging, and a broad range of consumer products.
Engineered for performance, processability, and sustainability, our materials are compatible with injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, and film production processes. They are designed to meet recognized international compostability standards, ensuring both functional reliability and environmental responsibility.
Types and Their Applications
PLA (Polylactic Acid)
PLA is a plant-based biodegradable plastic derived from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane. It offers excellent clarity and processability for injection molding and extrusion applications.
- Appearance: Transparent and rigid with good gloss
- Color: Naturally clear or milky white; customizable
- Applications: Food packaging, disposable cutlery, thermoformed trays, 3D printing filaments
PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates)
PHA is produced via microbial fermentation and can biodegrade in soil, freshwater, and marine environments. Advanced PHA technologies utilize greenhouse gases as feedstock, contributing to lower carbon footprint material solutions.
- Appearance: Semi-crystalline with moderate flexibility
- Color: Usually off-white or light tan
- Applications: Compostable packaging, agricultural films, medical devices, marine-degradable products
PBAT (Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate)
PBAT is often blended with PLA or starch compounds to improve flexibility and toughness in compostable film applications.
- Appearance: Flexible and tough
- Color: Opaque white; blendable and color-customizable
- Applications: Compostable shopping bags, food packaging films, agricultural mulch films
PBS (Polybutylene Succinate)
PBS offers improved heat resistance compared to PLA and is suitable for hot-fill or higher temperature applications.
- Appearance: Biodegradable with good mechanical strength
- Color: Milky white; customizable
- Applications: Packaging films, disposable tableware, agricultural applications
BioPBS (Bio-based Polybutylene Succinate)
BioPBS combines renewable feedstock with strong thermal and mechanical properties, making it suitable for durable compostable applications.
- Appearance: Heat-resistant and flexible
- Color: Translucent to milky; color-customizable
- Applications: Food containers, compostable tableware, mulch films
Starch-Based Compounds
Starch-based materials are cost-effective biodegradable solutions widely used for flexible packaging and single-use applications.
- Appearance: Matte surface, flexible depending on blend
- Color: Natural beige; color-adjustable
- Applications: Compostable bags, loose-fill packaging, agricultural films
Compostable Bioplastics
Compostable bioplastics are formulated to meet international compostability standards and are suitable for industrial composting environments.
- Appearance: Varies by formulation
- Color: Customizable
- Applications: Certified compostable packaging, food service items, organic waste collection bags
